Smethwick & Oldbury RT58 is just one of many Round Tables in Great Britain and Ireland established since the organisation was founded in Norwich in 1927 by Louis Marchesi as a "young man's version of Rotary Club".

All Round Table clubs in Great Britain and Ireland are part of a national organisation referred to as 'RTBI' - The National Association of Round Tables of Great Britain & Ireland.

In addition there are regional organisations known as 'areas' and Smethwick & Oldbury RT58 is one of the Tables that make up Round Table Area 5 in the West Midlands of England.

Round Table International is an umbrella organisation for the national associations that are now established in five continents.

Ladies' Circle is a sister organisation to Round Table and although many Tablers' wives and partners enjoy fun and friendship in this organisation it is open all females from 18 to 45 years of age. Many Round Tables have a matching Ladies' Circle.

What happens when you retire from Round Table? Fortunately there is a life beyond the Round Table retiring age of 45, and many ex-Tablers continue their friendship and fellowship as members of what is generally referred to as 41 Club. '41 Club' may seem an odd name but dates back to the time when Tablers retired at 40 years of age rather than the current 45, and thus entered a new club at 41. Smethwick and Oldbury, being an amalgamation of two Round Tables, has links with Smethwick 41 Club and Oldbury 41 Club.
